BPFNA was founded in March 1984 by members of the American Baptist Peace Fellowship (founded in 1940) and staff and readers of the journal, "Baptist Peacemaker" (published from 1980-1990 by Southern Baptists in Louisville) to be a unified Baptist voice for peace with justice. Too often Baptist voices are heard supporting war. We firmly believe that we are called to be "peacemongers" and, as such, seek to "wage peace" in the world. This calling is rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ through whom God calls us to the ministry of peacemaking.
