Shelter - we offer a continuum of services for women, men, and children in our six county service area. Our program service mix is designed to assist clients from crisis to stability. We provide a crisis shelter for families fleeing their homes due to domestic violence. Our crisis shelter is comprised of staff around the clock assisting clients with identifying their needs, connecting to resources, and planning for a safe future. 466 clients were assisted through our programs at the shelter. Our twenty four hour crisis line, which handled 3203 calls in 2017, is staffed within the shelter program. hope house provided 82 homeless, chemically dependent women with supportive services to help them maintain recovery and become self-sufficient. Those services include case management, peer recovery support, employment training, financial management, parenting, and housing. During the most recent fiscal year 51% remained in the program at least 60 days. The hope house program moved into their new location at ywca northeast indiana in march of the most recent fiscal year. outreach/community programs - as part of the continuum, we offer community programs to those that may not need shelter at the present, yet need to explore their options of staying versus leaving, safety planning, emotional support, and ongoing case management. 179 individuals were assisted through community programs. Case managers in our continuum not only provide individual case management yet facilitate support groups in our six county service area. Groups meet within jails in northeast indiana, and ahomeless shelter/recovery home. These group sessions had 134 participantsin 2017. education - as part of our continuum of services, we strive to provide prevention and intervention education in northeast indiana. We offer the only teen dating violence program certified by the indiana department of education in accordance with heather's law, called eyes wide open relationship awareness. The program was created by ywca northeast indiana and has been marketed to other organizations. We take this program as well as our other youth programs, digital boundaries, and don't be a digital bully to schools throughtout northeast indiana to educate on healthy relationships, teen dating violence andthe dangers of cyber bullying, sexting and texting. In addition, we offer adults in our community education on domestic violence and tailored presentations for professionals. Our education component had 7,102 youth educated along with 1,808 adults. Racial justice - ywca northeast indiana provides education beyond domestic violence as we work in our six county service area and across the state with our racial justice programming. Within our education activities we provide workplace training on diversity with three different formats. In addition,each month we offer public forums, named diversity dialogues, where community members come to the ywca northeast indiana to increase their knowledge on topics related to diversity. Total unduplicated participants in 2017 were 165. Our racial justice work does not stop there; we provide services to immigrant and refugee populations not only through our domestic violence continuum yet also through coordination of education and case management services. We offer the following classes at the ywca northeast indiana: citizenship, computer, and english as a second language. Class participants, totaling 33 in 2017. All staff works with a multitude of service providers in our six county region to meet the needs and advocate for all clients.
