Programs

The YWCA/NCA has served the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area for 100 years and continues to empower women and eliminate racism through its Practical Nursing Program, Fitness and Aquatics Center, Child Development Center, and Camp YWCA. * The Practical Nursing Program graduates 100 students on average who receive their LPN and go on to work in area hospitals and nursing homes. * The Fitness & Aquatics Center at Gallery Place is a comprehensive full service health center offering professionally trained staff, free weights, resistance machines, a heated indoor pool, and a huge variety of classes including aquatic exercise, yoga, aerobics and Pilates. * The Child Development Center is located in Vienna, Virginia, and is a NAEYC accredited program providing quality and comprehensive preschool and childcare to young people ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. The Center served 100 youth in fiscal year 2003, of which 20 were subsidized by the YWCA. * Camp YWCA is a four-session summer camp program focused on helath and fitness for young people that satisfies their need for physical activity and creative expression in a safe and nurturing environment at the YWCA Fitness & Aquatics Center in Downtown D.C. Financial assistance is available for those that qaulify. * Damascus Y-Women is a volunteer group of more than 30 women living in Damascus, Maryland who meet critical needs in their community, for example, by providing free breast cancer clinics to low-income and uninsured women as well as college scholarships to graduating seniors.
