The organization provides mentoring and educational programs for youth most of whom are between the ages of 9 - 21 and other community services and activities.

Programs

Our saturday academy program provides male and female youth with additional academic course work on saturday mornings to help improve their performance in school. The program is for students in grades 4th - 8th. In addition to the academic support, the program also includes the mentoring and cultural based components to enhance the educational experience. our step 1 mentoring program operates weekly group sessions for young men and young women 13-21 years old. The group discusses various life skills and character building topics. Youth are encouraged to talk about anything that is on their mind. They are taken on trips and other activities which expose them to positive alternatives. sat and act preparation course is operated for high school students to help them prepare for these exams. This is a five to six week course that includes a proctored preliminary exam that measures where students are as they begin the course. The sat prep sessions were held three times during the school year and ended the week before a scheduled exam. Students enrolled in the classes have shown significant increases in their test scores. our kitabu reading program helps to encourage youth to read more books. Participants read books and present written and oral book reports for a small reward. 100 black men provides youth with the opportunity to go on educational and culturally relavent trips, includung a tour of historically black colleges and universities. Academic achievement awards are also provided to graduating students going to college. 100 black men sponsors an annual community walk for wellness to promote healthy living and provide information on issues such as stroke awareness and heart health. We also sponsored exercise classes and informational workshops as part of our health and wellness programs. the organization provides a number of workshops and presentations to the community with information on; college applications and financial aid, health topics like diabetes, stroke, cancer, etc.
