Adoption , Children & Youth
Facilitation of adoptions- those wishing to adopt using abc's services are required to pay an application fee. Upon acceptance of a family's application, abc staff begin the process of identifying a child suitable for the family, conducting home studies to ensure the family has adequate housing and resources for a child, providing education regarding the care and needs of an orphaned child, identifying family and child needs, and referrals for services needed. These activities are done by the placement director and the executive director, as they have the qualifications required by the state of montana to conduct home studies and provide education and resource referral services. The costs for all services surrounding the facilitation of an adoption are paid by the adoptive families. Home studies- it is not uncommon for adoptive families to work with another agency that is unable to travel to an adoptive family's home to conduct a home study. Abc is contacted occasionally to conduct this service by contract with other agencies. Terms for the contract are discussed prior to proving the service and the originating agency is responsible for payment to abc. These home studies are also be done by the placement director and the executive director.
