Founded in 1986 by a Harvard graduate student and current development economist, Michael Kremer, WorldTeach has placed nearly 3000 volunteers to serve in under-resourced classrooms in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Pacific. Volunteers teach for one academic year, six-months, or a summer. While most volunteers teach English, a growing need for basic computer skills, environmental education (for nature guide training programs), and math and science, has expanded the range of opportunities for volunteers to contribute their expertise in a number of areas.
