1- to collect preserve and perpetuate the history of amphibious forces in wwii korea and vietnam and to educate the public as to how the rich naval maritime heritage has played in the countrys history and the importance in preserving historic naval ships for future generations 2- to serve as a resource available to educational institutions so that our ships artifacts sailors and documents will present in context a c omprehensive insight into the partnership of industry labor and evolvi ng military necessity to solve the tactical and practical matters requi red to respond to conflagrations such as wwii and to foster importance of military power for the future 3- to serve as a tribute and provi de an opportunity for the reflection of the accomplishments of the amphibious forces in wartime and the application of military technology to civilian enterprises wherever the need to move troops and equipment ashore from sea going vessels is required

Completed 3500 hours of historical preservation and restoration to the ship using dedicated volunteers hosted multiple veterans reunions from wwii korea and vietnam as well as historical organizations and conducted bi-weekly public educational tours expanded the community outreach and educational programs to include new hands on activities for eagle scouts and cadets
