Although 2014 arm faced many challenges such as modest resources and shifting demographics, the museum weathered the storm using strategic planning to chart new directions; encourage and manage innovation, develop broader approaches to engagement and put advocacy at the center. By following this strategy, the museum created many key programs such as; history bites at noon and the summer passort program. The museum published its second book, gen of the willamette valley, a history of albany oregon the director became the cheerleader and an ambassador to individuals and groups whose recognition and support of the museum needs to continue its work. Through these very brief examples, the museum increased visitors by 10% over the prior year, logged 2,770 from volunteers and kept membership stable at 350 members.
