Summer charity concert: welcome home - the concert featured music from the baltic states and the united states on the theme of crossing corders. Donations benefited the church world service - refugee and immigrant resettlement. The concert was performed on july16, 2017 at judea reform congregation of durham, north carolina. Total attendance = 180. winter concert: song of the universal - this concert explored themes of war, the wish for peace, and the redemptive powers of nature, love, and mercy. The title piece, "song of the universal," a lush setting of a walt whitman poem contrasts with "curse upon iron," composer veljo tormis's dark warning about the evils of war and unchecked technology. Rounding out the concert were works by antonio vivaldi, abbie betinis, and gwyneth walker. The concert was performed on january 21, 2018 at university united methodist church, chapel hill, north carolina. Total attendance = 306. spring concert: miriyam, maria, and maryam - this concert showcased latin and middle eastern sounds and examinee the core of compassion shared by the three abrahamic faiths. Ariel ramirez's "misa criolla" and a new work by artistic director allan friedman on refugees anchored the high-energy performance. Guitarists, percussionists, and interpretive dancers joined the chorus on stage. The program was performed on may 6, 2018 at first presbyterian church, durham, north carolina. Total attendance = 393.
