Programs

Exhibitions: the asheville area arts council creates gallery exhibitions with a group of creative professionals, representing various disciplines in the arts, who act as curators. This exhibition program has been successful in creating a diversity of perspectives as seen from the artist's point of view. Proposals are accepted annually and reviewed by the aaac's exhibition committee. During fy 2017 we presented 17 exhibitions featuring local artists. re-granting program: through our re-granting programming we are able to offer buncombe county artists and art and culture non-profits four different funding opportunities - the asheville art in the park arts & community grant; the north carolina arts council's grassroots arts program; and the regional artist project grant program; and the professional development grant for artists. During fy 2017 we re-distributed $67,150 to 39 different art projects and programs throughout buncombe county. artist curriculum: the artist curriculum program is comprised of the artist business brainstorm (abb) sessions and the media lab. Artist business brainstorm sessions are free one-on-one one brainstorming opportunities for artist entrepreneurs with professionals in the business and arts fields who generously donate their time. We also offer the use of our media lab to aaac members that include access to digital equipment and creative software not in the budget for the majority of individual artis
