Mission

Yates county genealogical and historical society (the society) is an irs 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation provided education and services focusing on the history of yates county, new york. Its programs include the collection, preservation, maintenance, registration and interpretation of historical collections, on-site and remote educational programs about historical events, people and places of yates county, and historical research on families and local history.

Programs

The organization provides the community with programs that encourage, enhance, and foster appreciation of county history. The organization provides collection management & maintenance through preservation, maintenance, registration and interpretation of the museum collection. The organization also provides educational programming and outreach, and historical programs and research services at three different museum sites: the oliver house; the l caroline underwood museum; and the scherer carriage house. The facilities are open to the public 51 weeks of the year and 28 hours per week. Historic information is available at the organization's website at yatespast.
