Mission

To promote a greater appreciation for and understanding of contemporary art made in asia or by artists of asian descent. The organization's purpose is fulfilled by collecting information on contemporary asian art and making it publicly accessible, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, providing research and writing in the field, and instigating dialogue and critical thinking to develop a broader audience for and a deeper understanding of visual art by artists in asia or by artists of asian descent.

Programs

The organization makes grants to recipients which conduct programs and projects that are consistent with the mission of the organization. All grants are reviewed and approved by the board of directors. The organization coordinates an ongoing program of presentations, panels, conversations and interviews with artists, curators, critics and scholars about contemporary art from asia. Transcripts and video documentation of the talks, presentations and panels are made accessible online to broad audiences through the organization's website. The organization organizes a publicly accessible reading room with physical and digital materials available to researchers five days a week. The organization engages in large-scale archival digitization projects, making primary source materials including photographs, film, and interview transcripts available to the public online.
