The purpose of arisia is to conduct meetings, conferences, and conventions concerning science fiction fantasy, and other related subjects. To promote the enhancement and furtherance of science fiction, fantasy, and related subjects in literature, artwork, films, theater, and other media. To sponsor, and promote the development of organized science fiction and fantasy fan activities, and to make grants for the foregoing purposes to appropriate organizations and activities.

Hosted our annual science fiction convention in boston in january. We had approximately 3,930 attendees (including volunteer staff). arisia made grants and donations to balticon, mice, strange horizons, and locus science fiction foundation to support their activities to promote science fiction. arisia sponsors annual student art and student writing contests (no entry fees) for students under 18 in new england. 94 students entered. Ten students and two schools received a total of $2,550 in prizes.
