To teach young people about music. To provide the opportunity for young instrumentalists to have the highest quality musical experience in an orchestral setting. To foster the discipline necessary to be successful in music, recognizing that this discipline is invaluable in life’s other pursuits. To instill a sense of value of the arts as an enrichment in every aspect of life.

The youth orchestra association of greater columbus, inc. Sponsors and promotes two youth orchestras, a string orchestra and a full orchestra. The association provides an opportunity for qualified students to enhance their musical education and performance skills. Weekly rehearsals are provided for the students selected for the orchestra. The orchestra performed six concerts in the current year: the fall concert at the river center, ensemble performance at columbus museum's holiday open house, a side-by -side concert with columbus symphony orchestra at river center, the "salute to broadway" pops fall concert at the columbus convention & trade center with 300 guests in attendance, the spring concert "maestro for a moment", and the "strings on broadway" summer camp concert. In addition to the concerts performed, there was a summer music camp held for over 50 students.
