During 2014, the aaita prepared to host the arizona american indian village held at the scottsdale civic center park on january 29-31, 2015, in celebration of the national professional football championship game (which cannot be named), played february 1, 2015, in glendale, arizona. The first american indian village had been staged in conjunction with the national professional football championship game (which cannot be named) in 1996. Given its success and the opportunity to showcase arizona indian tribes to vast local, regional, national and international audiences, the planning of the 2015 arizona indian festival began soon after the announcement of the venue of the game in glendale in 2015. The purpose of the 2015 festival was to showcase arizona indian tribes and nations by way of cultural education (traditional customs, dance, song, food, etc. ) as well as highlighting tribal tourism and economic development aspects on each of the respective arizona tribal lands. The festival also provides aaita an opportunity to educate the community about the ongoing capital campaign to create an arizona american indian cultural center slated to reside at an historical phoenix indian school building. The center will highlight arizona tribal cultures and provide cultural and tourism information.
