Programs

Ahtna heritage foundation provides two scholarship programs: 1)walter charley memorial scholarship, 2)eco trust scholarship. The scholarships are for college students with a maximum of $2,000 a semester for two semesters a year. Deadlines are twice a year. A scholarship committee meets twice a year to approve and disapprove applicants. Scholarship programs are based on ahtna tribal shares for eligibility. ahtna heritage foundation runs and maintains a cultural center. The center displays interpretive information about the ahtna culture and houses a large archive of information. The goal of the center is to educate the public and ahtna people as well as maintain a record for future generations. The center employs youth workers in the summer and also is a venue for selling ahtna artwork to the public. ahtna heritage foundation educates youth about their culture in the teachings of their native dance. We hold dance groups and gatherings throughout our region to engage youth in native dance.
