The texas chapter of the american fisheries society is committed to the conservation, development, and wise utilization of recreational and commercial fisheries, promotion of all branches of fisheries science and practice, and exchange and dissemination of knowledge about fish, fisheries, and related subjects.

Scholarships/grants: tcafs awarded a total of four $1,500 student scholarships and one $500 clark hubbs student research award during 2014, for a total of $6,500. exchange/disseminate information: tcafs holds an annual meeting where papers and posters are presented about recent fishery findings and publishes the information in the proceedings of the tcafs annual meeting which is provided to the membership and texas university libraries. Org/tcafs/tc-proceedings/. education/continuing education: at the tcafs 2014 annual meeting, a continuing education workshop was offered with a total of 85 participants. The title of the workshop was "tpwd inland fisheries use of hazard analysis and critical control point (haccp) planning for dealing with nuisance aquatic species" presented by jim matthews and brian van zee, both from the texas parks & wildlife department.
